This 4-hour course enables individuals who manage and evaluate the work of others and those who design and improve work flows to learn foundational principles of Just Culture. Learners then apply this knowledge to case scenarios using the Just Culture Algorithm. The recommended audience includes:

- As a result of active participation in the learning session and successful completion of the competency exam, participants will be able to:
- List key attributes and benefits of a Just Culture
- Identify the role of organizational mission and values in establishing a values-centric framework for workplace justice (“just culture”)
- Describe how individual performance and system design contribute to outcomes and the managers’ role in improving each.
- Identify components of a robust system design
- List and describe the spectrum of 5 behaviors assessed within a just culture framework.
- Identify and sequence the 5 elements of a threshold (event) investigation and its importance in creating a learning organization.
- Describe the three duties contained within the Just Culture Algorithm that create the basis for assessing workplace conduct.
- Describe the elements contained within the Just Culture Algorithm related to the management of repetitive conduct and the body of work.
- Recognize the leadership role of mercy, grace, and forgiveness to establish a sustainable Just Culture.
